Plan your trip to the South Lakeland Olympic Torch extravaganza

15 June 2012

There is less than a week to go until the Olympic Torch relay visits South Lakeland.

With thousands expected to converge on the area and see the Torch Relay as well as attend the community events and evening celebrations at the Glebe in Bowness, South Lakeland District Council is urging all visitors to plan their trip.

There are plenty of travel options available from coaches, buses and park and rides that will help people get to and from the events as conveniently as possible.

With car parking at a premium, those intending to visit are urged to look at alternatives with full travel and transport details available on South Lakeland's website.

SLDC Leader, Cllr Peter Thornton, said: "The Olympic Torch visit is a monumental event that has engaged our communities and will see a fantastic celebration on the Glebe.

"I am sure South Lakeland residents will want to attend these events and SLDC wants to ensure their visit is as convenient and easy as possible. So we are urging everyone who is planning to visit to look at the details on our website or by calling us so they can plan their trip."

Full details of the Torch's route and events as well as park and rides, bus and coach details are available on our website or by calling: 0845 050 4434.
