Christmas Shoppers get free parking on Sundays

South Lakeland District Council is offering free parking to users of the Westmorland Shopping Centre Car Park (WSC) in Kendal on Sunday 20 and 27 November, to thank shoppers and traders for their patience whilst routine maintenance work was carried out.

SLDC will also be offering free parking on Sundays at any council-run car park across the district in the run up to Christmas.  The first free Sunday starts on 4 December and parking will be free on the next three consecutive Sundays in the countdown to Christmas and the New Year. 

Parking will be free at the Westmorland Shopping Centre Car Park, Kendal on the following dates:

• Sunday 20 November
• Sunday 27 November

Parking will be free at all SLDC owned car parks across the district on the following dates:

• Sunday 4 December
• Sunday 11 December
• Sunday 18 December
• Sunday 25 December

Councillor Graham Vincent, SLDC’s portfolio holder for Enterprise and Economy, said: I would like to thank shoppers and traders for their patience whilst routine maintenance work was carried out at the WSC Car Park.  We were aware that the work caused some disruption and I hope the offer of free parking on two Sundays in November is beneficial.  Free parking at all SLDC car parks on Sundays prior to Christmas will also be helpful to seasonal weekend shoppers and local traders.  In South Lakeland we have a wide range of retail outlets throughout the district catering for the most discerning customer, and the council wishes everyone in the retail trade a busy and prosperous Christmas and New Year.”
