Sexual Orientation.

Your sexuality is a matter of privacy, however there are times when you wish to seek advice, and support in living your life.  Confusion, guilt, isolation, fear, bullying, exclusion, and oppression are many of the issues experienced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and their families.

As part of our anti-discrimination policy we have produced an Equality & Diversity Policy.

SLDC and South Lakes Housing are committed to ensuring that every tenant (regardless of race, creed, gender,  sexuality,  or  disability)  enjoys  their  right  to
security of tenure in their own home.  The Good Neighbour Charter, and SL Anti-Social Behaviour Policy reinforce this commitment.

Being lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender should not be a negative experience. There are a number of groups and organisations that provide advice and support to lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender people or their families and friends. We hope these links are of some use.

Cumbria County Council Childrens Service provide advice on Homophobic Bullying, they also provide a guide on Wedding & Civil Partnerships, should you wish to register your partnership.

A Copy of the Civil Partnership Act (2004) can be found on the Office of Public Sector Information website.  You may also wish to consider changing your name by deedpoll, the UK Deedpoll Service should be able to help.
