Education and Skills DfES provide detailed information on a
wide range of issues affecting adoption, including standards,
adoption reforms and, very importantly, legislation.
Organisations
- Barnardo's
is an organisation which has dealt with children for a number
years. It derives inspiration and values from the
Christian values and beliefs upon which the Barnardo's homes were
founded. Although they stopped running homes for children over 30
years ago, they offer a variety of services in Cumbria.
- NCH formerly
known as the National Childrens Homes provides information on
Adoption, Foster Care, Residential Family Centres, and Special
Schools. It also provides care and advice for Young People,
and is active in the areas of homelessness and youth
justice.
- Catholic
Caring Services is a charity working in the field of childcare
since 1934. It offers a variety of services to children and
young people in adoption placements, and also provides a
residential therapeutic children's home, and foster care.
Young People
Connexions Website is aimed at young people requiring advice on
issues relating to either Adoption, or Fostering.

Centre - Provides independent advice, counselling and support
to anyone affected by, or dealing with the challenges and
opportunities of adoption.
After
Adoption is another organisation proving services aimed
at anyone affected by adoption, whether they be adopted
people, birth parents and relatives or adoptive families, it also
provides helpline support.
