Lanternhouse the award winning home of Welfare State
International, the pioneering arts company. You can learn about the

11.00am - Take the short walk
into Ulverston, South Lakeland’s Festival
Town. There is a traditional street market on Thursdays and
Saturdays and the town crier is in town on those days. Take your
time to explore the cobbled streets, speciality shops and friendly
cafes. Ulverston is the birthplace of Stan Laurel and is home to
the world’s only Laurel & Hardy Museum.

1.00pm - Depart Ulverston Town Centre for The
Lakes Glass Centre.
1.05pm - Arrive at The
Lakes Glass Centre, home to both Cumbria Crystal and Heron
Glass. This is a unique opportunity to see Venetian style glass
making and the finest lead crystal being crafted under the same
roof. The Lighthouse Restaurant and Gateway to Furness Exhibition
are also on site.

2.00pm - Depart the Lakes Glass Centre for
Conishead Priory, a Georgian gothic mansion now home to a Buddhist
community. (check with attraction for details).
2.10pm - Arrive at Conishead
Priory and visit the unique Buddhist temple and take a
guided tour of the mansion. There are lovely walks in the
grounds.

3.15pm - Depart Conishead Priory for the scenic
journey along the coast road to Gleaston Watermill (follow the
brown and white waterwheel signs).
3.40pm - Arrive at Gleaston
Watermill and take a tour of this beautiful restored mill.
Time to soak up the rural atmosphere and country traditions
wonderfully illustrated in this charming attraction. Delicious home
made food and refreshments using local produce, are served in Dusty
Miller’s Traditional Tea Shop.
