Milnthorpe
Milnthorpe a small historic market town on the A6, South of
Kendal. The 19th century church overlooks The Square
which is also surrounded by pretty cottages and shops.
Milnthorpe's popular market is held
every Friday in The Square.
Milnthorpe was once a port on the banks of the River Bela and
the Kent Estuary. On the edge of Milnthorpe lies Dallam
Tower estate, with a 17th century deer park and the
River Bela running through it.
To the South of Milnthorpe lies Lakeland Wildlife Oasis at
Hale and Heron Corn Mill at
Beetham. To the north is Levens Hall, the Elizabethan
home of the Bagot family, with its famous topiary
gardens.
