Grasmere
Just south of the border between the old counties of
Cumberland and Westmorland lies Grasmere, inspiration to Wordsworth
and many generations since with its serene lake and romantic
setting.

The churchyard of the 13th century church is the resting place
of several Wordsworth family members; William's most famous home,
Dove Cottage is here
and nearby is
Rydal
Mount, his last, much-loved house.
The Lake Artists Exhibition is held in Grasmere from the end
of July to the beginning of September each year and the most famous
Lakeland sports event takes place here on the fourth Sunday in
August.
