Licence - self-drive and pleasure boats
All hire craft carrying 12 or fewer passengers whether they
are self-driven or have a supplied skipper must be licenced by the
council under the Lake Windermere Pleasure Vessels for Hire Byelaws
1990.
A letter stating that the applicant owns commercial premises,
from which they intend to operate, or that they are able to use
existing operations premises, must accompany each
application.
In the case of the second alternative, a covering letter on
company headed paper stating that the applicant has permission to
operate, must be provided.
Once the applicant has fitted the vessel(s) with the required
safety equipment and has fulfilled all other requirements the
completed application form should be returned to the Lake Wardens
office.
On receipt of the form the licencing officer will contact the
council's inspector who will arrange to attend the applicant's
premises where they will inspect all vessels concerned.
On completion of a satisfactory inspection the inspector will
issue licence stickers and the licencing officer will issue the
formal licence.
Application forms are available from the Lake Wardens
office.
