I would just like it noted that I am against the proposed plans of building houses on land in Ackenthwaite. This is for the following reasons:-

Kirkgate Lane is already a very busy junction with a lot of children walking and playing in that area. If there were to be more houses built this would increase the flow of traffic as the majority of residents use cars to get into Milnthorpe or further. If the houses were built in Milnthorpe town this would reduce the traffic flow as people would be able to walk.
It is a public amenity where a lot of people walk their dogs in an open space.
Are the local primary and secondary schools able to accommodate more pupils??
I understand the fields are to be built on a flood plain, which obviously is not a good proposal. The rain at the moment is soaked up into the fields in a large area and would the drainage be able to cope with this on hard standing smaller areas?
There is a preserved retaining wall (workhouse) which is lower than the proposed development. Would this very old wall be able to cope with the pressure of major builing works?
Ackenthwaite is classed as a rural area with lots of sheep and cattle - where would they be moved to if all the green land is built on??
The majority of present homes are built to accommodate the fantastic rural views and I for one certainly would not have bought my property had it been surrounded by new houses. I understand nobody is entitled to a view but surely when Ackenthwaite has a high proportion of owned houses (where people have chosen to invest their money) the residents views should be taken into account
