Having read the Core Strategy I feel the need to put the point of someone who lives in Grange. To most people on an average income to purchase all your shopping in Grange is madness because of the high cost compared to Supermarkets. So we all drive to Kendal or Ulverston or even Barrow. Our carbon footprint is mentioned, I can only see it rising year on year unless you provide LOCAL facilities ie- A Supermarket. Affordable housing is mentioned , which we all agree in principal with the need for local residents. However the standard of build to date is appalling and does
diminish the wonderful Victorian appeal the visitors flock to view and admire.
Having looked at the planning process I see no real scrutiny or pressure for buildings that compliment the town. All we get is cheap block rendered monstrosities . Grange could be the Jewel in the Crown but we need to be realistic and not live in the past.Pease dont miss a wonderful opportunity to enhance the town .
Lets develop a planning rule that requires some Victorian /Edwardian feature on every build
