Housing development in Cartmel

Whilst I approve of the building of affordable housing in Cartmel, I feel that the following issues need to be addressed at the same time.

Transport - There is a very inadequate public transport provision to and from Cartmel.

Job opportunities - There are very few job opportunities within the local area in and around Cartmel. This would mean that new residents would have to look further affield for jobs. This in turn would mean that they would have to use a car which in turn would add to local traffic problems. It would also have an impact upon the environment.

I believe that if the housing development is to go ahead then the above issues need to be addressed at the same time. There has to be some form of job creation in the area and better public transport. You cannot do one without the other.

It is a beautiful place to live, but you cannot live on views.
