As a resident I am only too aware of the narrow roads leading to Station Lane. Neddy Hill and Tan Pits Lane are not suitable for an increase in traffic, and access from the west is severely restricted due to the low /narrow bridge under the canal.
I have reservations about building further small business units (Dalton Hall and Clawthorpe already exist) largely because they do nothing to enhance the economy of the village. All they do is to bring people from far and wide to turn up during office hours and go home again. They do not shop in the village or provide employment for village people. Burton in Kendal would just be a location for the business to exist - it could be anywhere else.
Regards additional housing, Burton already has lots of houses for sale, and these are general slow moving. The only justification for new houses is to provide low cost houses for genuine local people ie. they already live and work in the area - the IMMEDIATE area, not people moving up from Preston and then working far away.
I am a great believer in the local economy, but this means business in the area manned by locals. Otherwise all you will get is further car journies made by people who could equally well be travelling the same distance to any other location.
