Much of this site is elevated and any development would dominate the southern approach to Kendal. At present this entrance to the town is very attractive and we should do all we can to preserve it.
What change(s) would you suggest for this part of the Report?
Remove site 2c from consideration for further growth.

Some statements in the table are incomplete or incorrect. On 'achievability', this site is most certainly not level and I doubt that it is easily developable.
On 'constraints' a) entrance to the town will be dominated by any development. b)properties on the opposite side of Milnthorpe Rd, Lumley Rd, and Helsington Laithes will be seriously overlooked. and c)can the sewage system cope with any more development in this area?

I accept that it will be necessary for Kendal and surrounding areas to change in order to sustain themselves into the future. It is also vital that young people are able to work and afford housing in the area. But I do not believe that the concept of 'affordable housing' at the extraordinarily high levels proposed will provide a workable solution. The real problem facing the area is the low value of the economy rather than house values as such. Attracting high quality employers who provide well paid jobs is a priority. If this can be achieved it will vastly reduce the need for 'affordable housing'. The local economy first needs to be expanded and raised in value before giving any consideration to expanding the population.
