Paragraph or Section
Key Diagram - Kendal Functional Area - Figure 21
Please state as clearly as you can the exact part of the Report you are commenting on by quoting the page number (if known), paragraph number, option name or number, or the number of the map, figure or table.
Housing area 5 to the East of Kendal.
Do you support, oppose or have an observation about this part of the Report?
Support partly
Please write your comment or explain your reasons for supporting or opposing this part of the Report. You may also wish to refer to the tests of soundess in the glossary of the Preferred Options document before making your comments.
My comments relate to the area east of Kendal which lies to the south of the 'old' Sedbergh Road down to the Castle Green Hotel. This area is still subject to regular flooding and drainage problems, despite completion of the recent drainage improvements to the north of the old Sedbergh Road. The land is also steep and undulating, with significant access problems. This area is therefore not suitable for housing development without incurring disproportionate cost.
What change(s) would you suggest for this part of the Report?
That the reference to the potential area for housing development to the East of Kendal be made more specific by defining the boundaries for potential development more clearly. If my view is accepted, then the area to the south of the old Sedbergh Road down to the Castle Green Hotel should be excluded.
