Natland is a village and I believe it should remain so. Further development towards the A65 Burton Road will take a further step towards urbanisation of the area and possibly in the longer term, integration within the development boundaries of Kendal itself.
Past development within the village has placed strain on the ability of the raod system to cope as well as the drainage/sewerage system. This became very noticeable when the Russell Armer develpoment next to Holmes Garden Centre on the southern boundary, was completed. The remedy was a compromise, not actually repairing or improving an antiquated and deteriorating system. Before any development was permitted it should be made sure the systems can cope. However, any schemes to improve road conditions and traffic flows could again detract from Natland being a village.
What change(s) would you suggest for this part of the Report?
I have not been able to find the exact part of the report relating to the comments I have made. However, any development must be preceded by a detailed appraisal of systems being able to cope with that development and any remedial work carried out prior to any work being commenced.
