About Data Transparency

In October 2011 the Department for Communities and Local Government published the Code of Recommended Practice for Local Authorities on Data Transparency. This code explains the necessity and principles behind the publication of public information and specifies the range of datasets that should be included for publication, including senior officers salaries and Council monthly expenditure.

How is South Lakeland District Council publishing open data?

South Lakeland District Council is committed to open data and transparency. We wil make non-personal information that we hold freely available to everyone in a format that can be reused. The data we publish  on this page can be used by anyone. If you wish to use this data you do not need to ask for permission to do so, but you will have to agree to the terms of the Open Government License for Public Sector Information.

What categories of data are available?

There are range of data types available on this webpage. The information has been divided into five categories; Finance data that includes monthly expenditure and senior employee salaries; Staff data including number of employees and organsiational structure.Members and Democracy data which includes meeting timetables and committee minutes; Performance data showing how the Council is performing against corporate targets; Community data that includes current and previous surveys and consultations and press releases.
