Individual Electoral Registration (IER)
The way people register to vote is changing dramatically in the
next couple of years.
This also means that the way we work will be changing too and
these changes are starting in 2013 as the implementation of the new
system takes place.
IER itself will commence in 2014 with full implementation in
2015.
Look out for more information on the website as it becomes
available.

Absent Vote Identifier Refresh
We are now required to refresh the personal
identifiers, i.e. the signature, of all those voters who have an
absent vote that is five years old or more. The personal
identifiers are the voter’s signature and date of birth provided on
their absent vote application.
This year’s refresh has now been completed.
Cancellation letters will be sent to all those who have not
responded.
This year's information was:-
The following information is for those who
have received the letter:-
If you wish your absent vote to continue you
must provide your up to date signature and return the form in the
envelope provided by Friday, 15 February, or if you wish to cancel
your absent vote please tick the box at the bottom of the form and
return by the same date.
If we don’t hear from you by 15 February, a reminder letter and
form will be sent but, obviously, obviously, it is helpful and less
costly if you could return your form early in the process.
Please note - if we have had
no response from you by Friday, 8 March 2013, then your absent vote
will be cancelled.
If you have a proxy vote, where you have nominated someone to
vote on your behalf at your polling station, please enter their
name in the box provided but you need to sign in the box as the
elector.
If you have received a letter because you are
a proxy who votes by post on behalf of another person, then you
need to sign and return the form.
Please contact Electoral Services if you have any queries
regarding this refresh.
New Register of Electors Published
Following the early annual canvass, brought forward due to the
first Police & Crime Commissioner elections on 15 November last
year, the new Register of Electors was published on 16
October 2012 and will remain in force until 30 November 2013.
Read the official
notice.
The Register of Electors is primarily for use at elections but
it is also used by Credit Reference Agencies to check the details
of anyone applying for a loan, credit or mortgage.
Remember, paying Council Tax does not mean you are automatically
registered to vote. You need to register to vote separately
and you can do that right now.
Changing your registration during the
year
If any of your details change, i.e. you move house, you can
amend your registration under the Rolling Registration
process. Contact Electoral Services who will be pleased to
help.
If you have any difficulties or queries please
call Electoral Services who will be pleased to help.
