Cemeteries Managed by South Lakeland District Council

The cemeteries listed below are all operated and maintained by the Authority, (For more inUlverston Cemetery Entranceformation and details check out cemetery links)

The Cemetery opening hours are until 9 p.m. or sunset (whichever is earlier), however, they are not locked and access is, in practice, possible at any time. This freedom places an obligation on visitors to show consideration and respect for the cemetery and other visitors. When visiting, please keep dogs on a lead and under close control.

No records of burials are kept at the individual cemeteries, apart from plans at the contractors rooms in Ulverston and Kendal. Staff are not always present and you are advised to contact the Cemeteries Office if you intend visiting  and are unsure of the grave location.

Vehicles can be driven into Kendal (Parkside) and Ulverston Cemeteries, but please use the car parks if possible. You are requested to drive with utmost care and consideration for other visitors, and to keep off the grassed areas. Maximum speed must be less than 10mph. The Superintendent may restrict vehicle access if a funeral is iminent.

The Council aims to keep its cemeteries maintained to a good standard. Please contact the Cemeteries Office if you are given any cause for concern with any aspect of a cemetery.
