New Community Safety Guidance for South Lakeland Residents
2 March 2010
South Lakeland Crime and
Disorder Reduction Partnership has published a Community Safety
Handbook to help residents stay safe.
The handbook, which will be distributed across
the district with Council Tax bills, is a useful guide offering
information and advice from a wide variety of local organisations
committed to promoting community safety and reducing crime and
anti-social behaviour.
It provides contact details on key agencies
dealing with domestic violence, anti-social behaviour, drugs and
alcohol and home and garden security. It also contains details on
the South Lakeland CDRP main priority areas for 2010.
Andy Shine, South
Lakeland CDRP Chair said, “ South Lakeland residents have
the right to live their lives in safety and there are many agencies
working together to provide help and support to our communities.
This new initiative offers information in one handy little booklet
to keep by the telephone. As well as useful information, it has
advice on how we can all help ourselves to keep our homes and
property safe. I hope it will re-assure South Lakeland residents
that help is available should they need it.”
Temporary Chief Superintendent Sean
Robinson, the South Cumbria Police Area Commander
said, “South Lakeland is a safe place to live,
work and visit, with a low crime rate which continues to fall. I
welcome this handbook as it gives clear, concise information about
community safety issues, which will hopefully make further
contributions to the reduction of crime by helping people to
restrict the number of opportunities open to criminals. Well
informed and well prepared residents are vital to ensuring the
safety of our communities.”
Copies of the handbook will be available at
Council offices, libraries and other public buildings as well as
police stations and Citizen’s Advice Bureaus across the district.
Residents can also view the handbook on our
website.
