Businesses to say how Kendal should look
26 February 2010
Kendal businesses are to have a say in the future look of Kendal,
with the aim of making the town more appealing to both locals and
visitors - and therefore boost the economy. Kendal Futures
Partnership is working with South Lakeland District Council to
produce a Design Guide for the public areas of Kendal.
Kendal Futures is the regeneration partnership
for Kendal. It has a board consisting of local representatives from
both the public and private sector and has been set up to deliver
key projects in the town.
The new Design Guide will help steer
development of the town’s central areas with the aim of making
Kendal more inviting, increase repeat visits and support local
businesses. A more attractive and better functioning town centre
will boost regeneration and bring benefits to the local
economy.
Consultants, Taylor Young have been appointed
to develop the guide and have held two workshops to help identify
local concerns and opportunities. Local businesses are now being
asked to complete an on-line questionnaire, so the consultants can
take into account local businesses views.
Complete the
questionnaire which will be available online until 8
March
Joanne Golton, SLDC’s Kendal
Regeneration Manager, says, “The more people we get to
complete the questionnaire, the better we will understand the
issues and opportunities for Kendal and bring forward a Kendal
Design Guide and plan for improvements.”
The Design Guide will be published in April
2010.
