North West Regional Strategy Abolition – comments sought on
implications for Land Allocations
The Government is in the process of abolishing Regional Spatial
Strategies which have guided local plans and planning decisions by
local authorities. The revocation of the Regional Spatial Strategy
for the North West will take effect from Monday 20 May 2013. If you

Look at plans for Berners, Grange-over-Sands
South Lakeland District Council and Grange
Town Council jointly hosted a public consultation event and
invited residents and the wider community to come and have a look
at the latest proposals for the
redevelopment of SLDC land at Berners Close in
Grange-over-Sands.
Changes to Housing Benefit
The rules for Housing Benefit change on 1 April 2013 for
tenants renting from Housing Associations. The changes only
apply to working age customers who live in a property with more
bedrooms than the rules allow for the size of the family.

Benefit Changes
Housing Benefit customers who are suffering
financial hardship because of the reduction in benefit can apply
for a Discretionary Housing Payment The payments
cannot be made to everyone and each case is looked at on its
merits.
Land Allocations Examination Hearings revised Agenda
and Timetable now published
The Inspector has now published the Agenda and Timetable for his
Matters and Issues. The
examination hearings will reconvene on Tuesday 11 June
2013.

Community Governance Review
Stage One of the Community
Governance Review ended on 7 May. All comments received
will now be considered with draft recommendations due in July. A
further consultation stage will follow their publication.
