Postal and Proxy Voting

Postal Voting Security Arrangements

Under new laws (the Electoral Administration Act 2006) anyone who holds an absent vote must supply a specimen of their signature and their date of birth.

All new applications for postal votes must include the person's date of birth and signature in a specified area on the form.

All personal information will be stored securely and will be used to check the validity of the postal vote. This is to help prevent electoral fraud and will assist in deterring misuse of someone's entitlement to vote.
