For local crafts and produce look out for the Made in Cumbria sign and you will find ideal reminders of your visit to the South Lakes.

The South Lakes are famous for food and drink - there is wide variety of restaurants, cafés and pubs in which to sample local fare.  For example you could start with Morecambe Bay shrimps, followed by traditional Cumberland Sausage, then Sticky Toffee Pudding and locally produced ice cream, topped off with Damson Gin.  If you just fancy a snack, Grasmere Gingerbread or Kendal Mintcake are hard to beat!

Several towns and villages in the area now have Fairtrade status.  When you see the Fairtrade logo in shops and restaurants, you can relax with your tea or coffee knowing you are helping farmers abroad to earn enough to educate their children and keep them in good health.
