Guidance

The Council has produced a guidance note on commenting on planning applications which sets out how to make your views count and also what constitutes a material planning issue.

Note

All comments should include the relevant planning application number and also the site address.

What Happens to my Comments?

Due to the very large volume of letters received on planning applications the Council is unable to acknowledge your comments individually.  However, you are able to follow an application's progess by using the Council's online planning service or by contacting the Development Control section direct.

Your comments will be fully considered by the Planning Officer who is dealing with that application and they will be taken into account as part of the assessment of the proposal.

If the application is to be reported to the Planning Committee then a summary of the points that you have raised will be included in the Committee report.

The Council operate a public participation scheme for those applications that are scheduled for consideration by the Planning Committee.  This allows residents to address the Committee to air their views.  A leaflet is available which explains the public speaking procedure at the Planning Committee.

Once a decision is made this will be published on the website where interested parties can view the details of the decision and any conditions or reasons for refusal where appropriate using the online planning service.
