Kirkland Enhancement Scheme
Thank you for your patience and understanding during the
Kirkland Enhancement Scheme improvement works. The scheme is
progressing to budget and lighting and footway improvements will be
complete by the Easter weekend.
The programme of works has slipped slightly by two weeks due to
cold weather conditions, delayed delivery of supplies and United
Utilities connection work for the new streetlights. In a change to
the original plan new block paving was installed along the east
side of Kirkland replacing the old materials and new paving was put
into the corner by the Ring O’ Bells. This extra work coupled with
more drainage work than expected has also delayed the project.
The enhancement works on the pavements (kerbing, lighting,
reinstatement and paving) will now complete on Thursday 1st April
and extra labour has been brought in to get the job finished. Work
is planned on the carriageway for white lining and Prismo laying
starting 6th April for 4 days (weather dependant).
We have been advised by County Highways that the road in
Kirkland over Easter will continue to operate as one lane (loading
bay on the left, driving on the right) leading through to Highgate.
Current traffic management helps ease congestion in Highgate so
Kirkland will remain one lane until the works are complete.
The banner brackets will be painted black and put onto the new
street lamps. Signposts and hanging basket trees will also be
painted black. New bins and seats will be installed shortly.
