Licensing
South Lakeland District Council (SLDC) is the
enforcement authority for hackney carriage vehicles and drivers,
private hire vehicles and drivers. It also deals with
amusements with prizes, permits for street collections, house
to house collections, small lotteries, skin piercing
activities, animal welfare licensing, zoos and pet shops.
Licensing is a statutory duty carried out by the council, for
the purpose of protecting people and animals, and covers a wide
range of activities.
