Kendal
South Lakeland's largest town Kendal is an excellent
location to host a conference, large or small. This attractive
market town hosts plenty of hotels, excellent venue facilities,
quality catering establishments and good transport connections, all
against a fabulous Lakeland backdrop.
There are a number of Kendal business conference venues that
seat over 200; these include purpose built conference facilities at
Castle Green Hotel, Riverside Hotel and Kendal College. Kendal Town
Hall's Assembly Room can hold up to 350 and also features
additional syndicate rooms suitable of holding 20-60. Kendal
Leisure Centre can accommodate up to 600 people for conferences or
exhibitions. In the town centre, within 5 minutes walk of the main
car parks and station, the Shakespeare Centre can hold up to 100
plus 30 in two small syndicate rooms, the Brewery Arts Centre has
small and large rooms seating from 20 up to 200 and Stricklandgate
House has a small conference hall with break-out room seating up to
70.
In Kendal there are a good number of quality catering companies
who can cater for seminars and events for 5 – 500 people. For
larger sit-down evening dinners events establishments such as
Castle Green Hotel, Brewery Arts Centre, Riverside Hotel,
Stonecross Manor and Kendal College, (a specialist hospitality and
catering college) can cater for up to 250 people.
Transport and Parking
South Lakeland has excellent transport links. Road - Kendal
is 8 miles (approx 15 minutes) from junction 36 of the M6. Train -
Oxenholme – The Lake District is located on the edge of Kendal –
this station is on the west coast main line. It is a short taxi
ride into town or people can change trains for a short connection
to Kendal. National Express – stops in Kendal (570 service).
