South Lakeland Crime and Disorder Reduction
Partnership
South Lakeland Crime and Disorder
Reduction Partnership (CDRP) is made up of a mixture of
organisations and voluntary groups who work together with a common
aim to tackle crime and disorder in the area and to maintain South
Lakeland’s position as one of the safest in the North West.
Some partners have a legal
responsibility to work with the CDRP and these are South Lakeland
District Council, Cumbria County Council, Cumbria Constabulary,
Cumbria Primary Care Trust, Cumbria Police Authority and Cumbria
Fire and Rescue Service. From April 2010, Probation changed from a
co-operating body to a statutory partner, reflecting the CDRP’s
changed remit to include reducing re-offending.
The CDRP has a duty to undertake an
annual Strategic Assessment of local community safety and crime
priorities. The information is used to develop a 3 year Partnership
Plan that clearly sets out how the Partnership will tackle key
priority crime types, identified through community and partner
consultation.
The current key areas of work target anti
social behaviour, youth disorder and criminal damage; violent crime
including alcohol related assaults, domestic violence, public
reassurance and acquisitive crime, including burglary.
