Abandoned Vehicles
Abandoned vehicles, including cars, vans and trailers, are
removed and disposed of under the Refuse Disposal (Amenity) Act
1978.
An abandoned vehicle is one which may have been left, unused, in
one location for several weeks, or in an unroadworthy condition and
may not be displaying a valid tax disc.
We aim to respond to all reports of abandoned vehicles within
one working day of receipt of report. If the investigation
indicates the vehicle may have been abandoned a statutory notice is
affixed to the vehicle. On expiry of the notice the vehicle is
removed for disposal.
The Council may recover the costs associated with the disposal
from land owners or the owner of the vehicle.
To Report an Abandoned Vehicle
Any reports regarding abandoned vehicles should be passed in the
first instance to the local police, who will then investigate
whether the vehicle has been involved in a crime.
Should you have difficulty contacting the local police please

using the Feedback and Report It link on the
