Recycling and Rubbish
We provide a range of waste and recycling services to
households around South Lakeland, including collections from the
kerbside and at recycling banks.
There are over 50,000 households in the district, each
generating around a tonne of waste each year. Approximately half of
the waste we collect is now recycled, each year this equates
to:
- 12,00,000 newspapers
- 7,800,000 glass bottles
- 15,000,000 cans
- 26,000,000 plastic bottles
The service provided to households is provided as one of the
standard services provided by the Council. However businesses are
able to use any licensed waste contractor, paying for the service
used. We are licensed to collect waste and offer this service to
businesses throughout the district.
