Jamaica Inn filming

Jamaica Inn

The new BBC One three-part drama Jamaica Inn, an adaptation of Daphne du Maurier’s classic gothic novel, is due to air this Easter Monday, 21 April.

Key scenes were shot at Kirkby Lonsdale, where the market square car park and Monument were transformed into Altarnun village using mud and straw to cover the floor. As a council, we helped to facilitate the filming.

Easter opening times

Our offices in Kendal, Ulverston and Windermere will be closed on Friday 18 and Monday 21 April.

For the week commencing Monday 21 April, waste and recycling collections will be one day later than normal.
