SLDC get fruity for charity!

The Council will be getting fruity and raising money for cancer prevention as council officers support the World Cancer Research Fund (WRCF) ‘Fruity Friday’ campaign on 16 May 2008. Staff are being encouraged to wear something yellow for the day, drink healthy fruit smoothies and make a donation of £2 to the charity

Noise Action Week - 19-23 May 2008

For Noise Action Week 2008, SLDC aims to promote practical solutions to everyday noise problems. During Noise Action Week the council hopes to raise awareness of the impact of noise locally and the simple measures that can be taken to avoid noise problems.

Public Consultation on the Core Strategy Preferred Options document is still taking place

Public consultations are still taking place until the 30th May 2008 on the 'Core Strategy - Preferred Options' and the 'Kendal Canal Head Area Action Plan - Preferred Options'. A series of consultation events are taking place during May which will provide opportunities for local residents to get involved.

At yesterday's Annual Council meeting, South Lakeland District Council elected a new Chairman. Councillor Jonathan Brook will take on the role for the next year with Councillor Sylvia Emmott supporting in the role of Vice Chairman.
