New Leader for South Lakeland District
Council
Councillor Peter Thornton has been elected as the new Leader of
South Lakeland District Council.
Cllr Thornton was voted into the position at a meeting of Full
Council on Thursday 16 May. One of his first duties was to create a
new cabinet.
Cllr Clare Feeney-Johnson will be Deputy Leader. Cllr Jo
Stephenson was elected as Chairman of the Authority and Cllr Evelyn
Westwood as Vice-Chairman.

Land Allocation - What’s Next?
Thank you to everyone who made representations on the
published Land Allocations DPD. The period for making
representations closed on 17 April 2012. We are
currently placing all representations on the Council's
website. We are considering the issues raised
in the representations and checking the implications of
the new National Planning Policy Framework,
before submitting the Land Allocations document
for independent examination.
