Flooding grant scheme launched

People affected by recent flooding in South Lakeland can now apply for new grants to tackle flooding problems.

Thanks to a scheme being launched by South Lakeland District Council homeowners and businesses can apply for a ‘repair and renew’ grant of up to £5,000 to implement flood resistance and/or resilience measures to help protect them from future flooding.

In addition,  there are also three flood financial rate relief schemes available for homes and businesses affected by floods.

 

£22.3m funding boost for Cumbria

Leader of South Lakeland District Council Peter Thornton has welcomed the announcement of £22.3m of investment for Cumbria as “excellent news’’ for the county.

SLDC has been a key partner in the Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership, which confirmed today that their bid for funding for a ‘four-pronged attack’ plan to boost economic growth has paid off.

Several key schemes to create economic growth and employment in South Lakeland are set to benefit.

Business Premises Survey 2014 

Businesses will soon be receiving a South Lakeland Business Premises Survey for 2014 through the post.

This survey, which can also be completed on-line,  is being undertaken to provide an up-to-date local assessment of business supply, need and demand.

Public Inspection Notice

The council’s auditors have set Monday, 4 August, as the date for the public to exercise their rights to question the auditor or to make objections to the statement of accounts for the 2013/14 financial year.

The accounts will be available for public inspection from Monday, 7 July.
